Privacy Policy
Effective: March 2026
1. Data Collection & Analytics
CrispyShot does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information (PII). There are no user accounts. To help us understand how the app is used, we collect anonymous usage telemetry (such as app launches and capture events) using our self-hosted, privacy-first analytics instance. This data is strictly anonymous, uses no cookies, and cannot be traced back to you.
2. Screenshots and Files
All screenshots you capture are processed and stored entirely on your Mac. Images are saved to the directory you configure in Preferences (default: ~/Pictures/CrispyShot). We have no access to these files. You have full control over storage duration and cleanup via the app's settings.
3. Clipboard Usage
When you capture a screenshot, CrispyShot writes the image data and a file reference to your system clipboard so you can paste it into other apps. This data stays on your device and is handled by macOS. CrispyShot does not read clipboard content from other applications.
4. Permissions Required
CrispyShot requires the following macOS permissions to function:
- Screen Recording — Required to capture screenshots. Without this permission, the app cannot access screen content.
- Accessibility (optional) — Used for global keyboard shortcuts. The app functions without this but keyboard shortcuts may not register in all contexts.
These permissions are managed by macOS System Settings and can be revoked at any time.
5. Data Stored on Your Device
The only data CrispyShot stores locally:
- Your preferences (image format, quality, save directory, notification settings) — stored in macOS UserDefaults.
- Screenshot files — stored in your configured save directory.
- Screenshot history thumbnails — stored in the app's Application Support directory.
6. How to Delete All Data
To remove all CrispyShot data from your Mac:
- Delete the app from your Applications folder.
- Remove
~/Library/Application Support/CrispyShot/. - Remove saved screenshots from your configured save directory.
- Revoke permissions in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
7. This Website
The crispyshot.app website is a static site. We use a self-hosted, privacy-friendly analytics tool to count anonymous page visits. No cookies are used and no personal data or IP addresses are stored.
8. Children's Privacy
CrispyShot is a general-purpose utility and does not target children under 13. Since no data is collected, no information about any user — including children — is stored or processed.
9. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Since CrispyShot does not collect contact information, there is no other way to notify users.
